remind

remind接双宾语时其直接宾语可以是动词不定式,也可以是介词短语“of+ v -ing ”。它们之间的区别是：前者指将来发生的事情,而后者则指过去发生过的事情。试比较以下两个句子：

He reminded me to answer the letter.

他提醒我回这封信。

He reminded me of my answering the letter.

他提醒我已经回过这封信了。

这组词共同的意思是“回忆”“记起”。它们之间的区别在于：

1.mind指通过媒介或激发力而“想起”,是方言用法。

2.recall指有意识地记起了过去的事情,还可表示由于看到的东西与往事相似而引起回忆。例如:

I can still recall your saying to me that you were going to be a lawyer.我还记得清你对我说过你要当律师的事。

I don't recall where to meet her.我不能记起在哪儿见过她。

I don't recall how to do it.我不能记忆起怎样做那事。

3.remember则有可能是有意识地,也可能是不由自主地记住。例如:

memorize指有意识的下功夫把某事的整个细节都记在脑子里。

recollect指在记忆中搜索，设法想起一时想不起的事情或人，强调过程。

remind指经某人或某事的提醒而回忆起某件已遗忘之事。
